A Catholic Barfight?
Thursday, March 23, 2006
I came across an intresting podcast yesterday while burning CDs, and thought I would share it. For those of you reading who don't already know, I'm a Traditional Catholic (Tridentine Latin Mass), and that's part of why this podcast appealed to me. It should also appeal to any Novus Order Catholics who disagree with/agree with/want to know more about the Traditionalists. The podcast in question is called The Catholic Barfight (http://catholicbarfight.libsyn.com). The format of the podcast can be summed up as sush: "A Novus Ordo Catholic and a Traditonal Catholic argue about issues concerning the faith and morals." The hosts, Kevin and Ben, give a pretty good show, and I found thier conversation, though not as intellectual as some writers tend to be (No offence, but Kevin, the Traditionalist, is no Michael Rose or Christopher Ferrara, nor is Ben a Novus Ordo equivalent), very engaging. They begin each show with a joke, then preform the "Main Event," which is their arguement, and lastly, they do an "Origin of the Phrase" where Kevin gives the roots of a word or phrase. As of this post, there are only 4 podcasts: A Promo; Barfight 1; Barfight 2; and a mini podcast, Barfight 2.5. I've only listened to Barfights 1 & 2, but, once again, I found both interesting. I highly recommend taking a listen!
NOTE: The Catholic Barfight hasn't posted anything new for a little over a month, and their last podcast is from January 29th, but the say they'll be comming back, and I think they're worth watching for.

This podcast has sent me into a podcast finding spree, and I'm loving it. I'll say more the more I find.

For those of you who go to, know about, or would like to know about Sts. Philomena & Cecilia Catholic Church (formerly St. Cecilia of Rome, though the website is still at www.stceciliaofrome.com), here's a little news item: SOMEONE KNOW'S WE EXIST! Two blogs have refrenced the parish:
http://thenewliturgicalmovement.blogspot.com/2005/11/new-fssp-parish-in-indiana.html
Mentions us and has a nice picture of Mass (I'm the server second from the right).

http://christusvincit.blogspot.com/2005/11/new-liturgical-movement.html
Mentions the other blog's post (and by a strange coincendence is related to a podcast I found and downloaded for later listing while posting this; though that's not how I found this blog post).

I would also love to post about the Candlelight Mass at Sts. Cecilia and Philomena, be Emily beat me to it. So I won't.

That's all for now, may all your Thursdays be Perpetual.
