Lord of the Stem Cells
Tuesday, July 18, 2006
Pardon my language here, but I can find no better words to convey my feeling about the matter. Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh (the folks whom many of us praised for brining Lord of the Rings to the silver screen) are a couple of complete asses.

From the pro-life news site LifeSiteNews.com:
" WELLINGTON, New Zealand, July 17, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Profits from the Lord of the Rings film trilogy are being used to fund destructive human embryonic research at the University of California, reported the Mainichi Daily News.

Filmmakers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, who brought the J.R.R. Tolkien epic to the screen, together donated US $310,000 last Saturday to fund research using the stem cells of human embryos."

What makes this all the worse is that so many people were pushing Lord of the Rings, glorifing Jackson for bringing a cherished story to the theaters. As fans many of us bought the movies, the extended editions, merchendice, tickets to see it in theaters, tickets to the muesem exibit. Some people went as far as to go on special vacations to go see the filming locations. (There are even people, myself included until now, who were enganges in writing letters to Jackson and New Line in an attempt to get him to film "The Hobbit.")

Now we have this. Certianly, it was one thing when McKellen used the film to boost his campaign for homosexual marrige, but this is another thing entierly. These aren't a couple of actors with agendas, these are the producers, putting some of thier profits from the film to the horrible use of killing innocent babies to use for 'research'.

I was going to be on the lookout for the Lord of the Rings Limited Edition DVDs... Now I can't say I'll be paying any attention.

I read and replied to your forum post about this already. All I will say now is: %#$^*&!

Oh, and I didn't know Ian McKellen used the movie to boost his despicable campaign until I read this entry of yours. That man is loathsome. It's so unfitting that strictly in terms of acting he plays Gandalf so ideally.
